There are many community organizations that merit support. Here is a favorite that shows inspiring focus and results:
Founded in 2000, Admission Possible is dedicated to helping promising, low-income students obtain admission to college. The organization serves more than 1,700 students in the Twin Cities, and has recently expanded to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where it serves an additional 200 students. The results are incredible:
•Overall, 98% of Admission Possible’s students have been admitted to college.
•Approximately 80% of Admission Possible’s students who enrolled in college are still working toward their college degree or have graduated. (By comparison, only 7% of all low-income students nationwide earn a college degree by age 24, according to Education Trust.)
•Students in the program have shown an average ACT score improvement of greater than 18%. (Leading for-profit companies, by comparison, advertise average increases of 12-14%.)
